Hot Neon worked with Accent Inns to conduct research into the orientation priorities of their different locations. We conducted focus groups at properties across the province to learn about the unique concerns and challenges with onboarding new employees. From these interviews, we learned that the current onboarding approach, which consisted of managers presenting a Powerpoint presentation to new employees, was unengaging and inconsistent. It also required managers to spend 2-4 hours with the new employee over their first few shifts.
Hot Neon developed a plan for the new orientation program and shared it back with leadership at Accent Inns head office and properties to get buy in from all parties. We then worked with the Accent Inns People and Culture department to develop an online orientation program that included:

Hot Neon assisted in the pilot project and implementation of the project on Accent Inns LMS and supported change management activities with hotel staff and managers.
Accent Inns staff and leadership were thrilled with the revamped feedback. The program is currently being rolled out, and we’ve collected some feedback from early testers:

We partnered with BC Cancer to create a 4-minute animated video aimed at demonstrating the importance and process of advance care planning (ACP). The video focuses on the patient journey through a first-person narrative, utilizing 2D animation to elicit emotions and emphasize the value of ACP.
An interactive branching scenario (multiple possible endings) where users can practice the skills that make an effective apology. This scenario employs a gamified user interface and cinematic animation, creating an immersive experience.
An interactive eLearning course for healthcare providers, focusing on delivering safe, non-stigmatizing care to sex workers. The project aimed to break down barriers to accessing care, ultimately leading to better health outcomes and reduced healthcare costs.
