Interactive Toolkits

Hot Neon worked with a team of therapists to develop interactive toolkits to support men in improving their mental health. The toolkit was designed to be approachable, anonymous, and instructive, effectively lowering the barrier of entry to mental health care.

Background

There is a crucial gap within the spectrum of men’s mental health care – men who are looking to actively improve their mental health, but are still hesitant about counseling. Failure to engage with, and provide resources for these men often resulted in them halting their health journey. Men &’s therapist team conducted research and developed PDF toolkits focusing on the following topics:

Through the Men& initiative, Hot Neon has effectively contributed to bridging the mental health care gap for men in Alberta and Canada. By creating engaging, interactive, and anonymous resources, we have empowered men to take the first steps toward improving their mental health and relationships, thereby fostering a healthier and more supportive community.

The ongoing relationship between Men& and Hot Neon continues to produce additional toolkits targeted at existing and new audiences.

We partnered with BC Cancer to create a 4-minute animated video aimed at demonstrating the importance and process of advance care planning (ACP). The video focuses on the patient journey through a first-person narrative, utilizing 2D animation to elicit emotions and emphasize the value of ACP.

Hot Neon worked with Accent Inns to conduct research into the orientation priorities of their different locations. We conducted focus groups at properties across the province to learn about the unique concerns and challenges with onboarding new employees.

We collaborated to develop an interactive eLearning course for healthcare providers, focusing on delivering safe, non-stigmatizing care to sex workers.  The project aimed to break down barriers to accessing care, ultimately leading to better health outcomes and reduced healthcare costs.
